Bank of Baroda UAE Cheque Printing (BOB-001)

Bank of Baroda's UAE cheque is a wide leaf at 205 millimetres, and the amount in words is where most of the care goes.

This is UAE Bank of Baroda stationery, measured from a leaf issued here. If you hold a cheque book from a Bank of Baroda branch outside the UAE, do not assume the same layout — cheque stock is set per country and the Indian format differs. Compare your leaf against the image in the library before printing.

Getting the amount in words right

The amount in words is the field a teller reads against the figures, and it is where a cheque gets queried. The software writes it from the figure you enter, so the two cannot disagree, and it is set to run to a second line when the figure is long. Writing "only" after the amount, the fils portion, the placement of "Dirhams" — all of that is handled the same way every time rather than depending on who is filling the cheque in.

If you want to read the wording before it goes on paper, the AED amount to words converter produces exactly what the software prints. There is a guide to dirhams and fils wording if you want the reasoning behind it.

What the software does and does not print

It prints date, payee, amount in words and amount in figures. The software only prints the text fields. Your Bank of Baroda stationery supplies the bank mark, the account details and the magnetic band at the foot of the cheque, and none of that is touched — so the cheque that comes out is your own cheque with typed text on it.

Questions we get asked

Will the UAE layout work on an Indian Bank of Baroda cheque?

No. BOB-001 is measured from UAE stationery at 205 x 99 mm. Cheque formats are set per country. If your book was issued outside the UAE, add it as a custom bank with its own measurements, or send a flat scan through a ticket.

Can the software write the amount in words automatically?

Yes. You type the figure and the words are generated from it, so the two fields always agree. That is the main reason businesses move off handwriting cheques.

Do I need a special printer?

No. A plain laser printer that takes a single sheet from a manual or multipurpose tray is enough. Set a custom paper size matching the cheque so the printer does not position the text for an A4 page.

Check your cheque against the library first

Open the UAE bank cheque library, find the code printed on your cheque, and pick the same name in the software. If your book is not there yet, send us a scan through a ticket and we measure it.
