UAE Bank Cheque Formats — Why Alignment Matters
Every UAE bank uses a slightly different cheque layout — the position of the amount box, date field, and payee name line varies by bank and sometimes by account type. Printing on the wrong template means your cheque may be rejected at the bank counter.
Why Each Bank Has a Different Cheque Layout
UAE banks design their own cheque formats to include security features, MICR lines, and bank-specific fields. Even two accounts at the same bank may have slightly different cheque layouts if one is a current account and the other a business account.
Key fields that differ between banks:
- Amount box position — varies by 2–15mm between banks
- Date format — some banks use DD/MM/YYYY, others have pre-printed fields
- Words line position — the "Pay" line starts at different X positions
- Signature area — some cheques have a clear zone that must not be overprinted
