RAKBANK Cheque Printing: Two Cheque Books, Two Alignments
RAKBANK is the one UAE bank where we keep two separate entries in the cheque library rather than one, and there is a practical reason for it.
The two RAKBANK books we have measured
A RAKBANK cheque leaf is not a single standard. The two books we hold measurements for differ by four millimetres across and one down — small enough that people assume one setting covers both, and large enough that the amount line lands on the printed rule if you guess wrong.

Both are wide-format cheques, so both feed the same way. The difference shows up in where the amount in figures sits relative to the right edge, which is why the software carries them as two names instead of one.
Which one is in your hand
You do not have to measure anything. Lay your cheque next to the two images in the library and match the printed layout — the position of the bank mark and the shape of the crossing box differ between the two books. The code on the card is the name to pick in the software.
- If the cheque is 206 mm wide, choose RAK BANK - RAK-002.
- If it is 202 mm wide, choose RAK BANK BUSINESS.
- If your branch has issued you a book that matches neither image, send a flat scan and we add it to the next layout version.
What actually gets printed on a RAKBANK cheque
Four fields: the date, the payee name, the amount in words and the amount in figures. The software only prints the text fields — the bank's own stationery supplies everything else, so the cheque that comes out of the tray is your own cheque with typed text on it.
The amount in words is set to run onto a second line when it is too long for the first, which matters on RAKBANK because the words rule is shorter than the payee rule. A figure like one hundred and twenty-five thousand dirhams will wrap, and it is meant to. Post-dated cheques for rent and instalments
RAKBANK books are commonly used for rent and instalment PDCs, which is a batch job rather than a one-off. You enter the series once and the dates advance on the schedule you set, so twelve cheques come out of one sitting. Questions we get asked
Do I need a RAKBANK-specific printer?
No. A plain laser printer that can take a single sheet from a manual or multipurpose tray is enough. The cheque is paper and the printer treats it as paper. Nothing is printed on the magnetic band at the bottom — that is already on the stationery from the bank.
Why does my RAKBANK cheque print four millimetres off?
Almost always because the other RAKBANK book is selected. The older book is 206 mm wide and the business book is 202 mm. Switch the bank name to the other RAKBANK entry and print a test on a photocopy of the cheque before using a real leaf.
Can I print RAKBANK and another bank from the same installation?
Yes. Each bank keeps its own layout, so you select the account you are paying from and the fields move with it. There is no re-calibration when you switch between banks you have already set up. The full list is in the cheque library.
