Sharjah Islamic Bank Cheque Printing (SIB-001)
Sharjah Islamic Bank has an awkward cheque size, and that is the whole story of setting it up.
A cheque that belongs to neither size family
Most UAE cheque stock falls into one of two groups: wide leaves of roughly 200 to 206 mm, or short leaves of roughly 156 to 163 mm. Sharjah Islamic Bank sits in the gap.

The half-millimetre is not fussiness. At 180.5 mm the leaf is twenty-five millimetres narrower than an Emirates Islamic cheque and twenty wider than a WIO one, so a setting borrowed from either lands visibly wrong. Rounding it to 180 or 181 pushes the amount in figures about half a character off the ruled box, which is the difference between a cheque a bank accepts without comment and one a teller queries.
Why an SIB cheque gets rejected at the counter
Nothing about Islamic banking changes how a cheque is printed — the paper, the four fields and the magnetic band work the same as any other UAE bank. What does differ on SIB stationery is the crossing box in the top left, which is tighter than on most books. If the payee line starts too far left it can run into that box, and a cheque with text crossing into the crossing area is the kind a branch sends back.
The SIB-001 layout keeps the payee start clear of it. If you are setting the bank up by hand instead of using the stored layout, that is the measurement to get right first.
What the software puts on the paper
Four text fields: date, payee, amount in words, amount in figures. The software only prints the text fields. Your SIB cheque book keeps its own printing, its own serial numbers and its own magnetic band — there is no attempt to reproduce the cheque graphically, which is why the output is accepted as a normal cheque.
The amount in words wraps to a second line on long figures, and on a 180.5 mm leaf it wraps earlier than on a wide cheque. If you want to read the wording before committing a leaf, put the figure through the AED amount to words converter.

Questions we get asked
Is SIB-001 the only Sharjah Islamic Bank cheque size?
It is the only one we have measured and published so far. If your book looks different from the SIB card in the cheque library, send a flat scan and we measure it and add it in the next layout version.
Does a profit-based Islamic account change the cheque layout?
No. The account structure has no bearing on the printed cheque. The leaf is the same paper with the same four fields, and the only thing that matters for printing is the physical size and the position of the ruled lines.
Can I use the same setting for Sharjah Islamic and Emirates Islamic?
No. Emirates Islamic business cheques measure 206 x 99 mm against SIB at 180.5 x 90.5 mm — twenty-five millimetres apart. Keep them as two separate banks, which is how they are stored.
